PadiQ — Privacy policy
1. Who we are
PadiQ is run by Lumavex Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17225895), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Lumavex Ltd decides how your personal data is used (we're the "controller"). Contact us about anything in this policy at info@lumavex.io.
2. How we get your data
- From you: what you enter when you sign up, answer the onboarding questions, set your times and area, ask for games, write in chats and send feedback or reports.
- From other players: feedback after games you played together, reports that you didn't turn up, and reports about your messages or behaviour.
- Automatically: technical data from the app and our servers when you use PadiQ.
3. What we collect, and why
Your account
Your email address, your first name and your password. Your password is stored securely by our login provider; we can't see it. We need these to create your account and let you log in.
Your player profile
Your onboarding answers, including anything you write in your own words; your hand, preferred side, position and scoring format; your Advanced Profile answers; and the level and playing style we work out from your answers. We use these to find games where the group fits.
Where and when you play
Your city or area and a map point for it, how far you're willing to travel, the regular times you can play, your exceptions and your time zone. We use these to find games near you when you're free.
Your games
The games you ask for and are put into, who you played with, confirmations, check-ins and cancellations, the feedback you give after a game (including how playing with your partner went), and reports that a player didn't turn up. We use these to run games and to make future games better.
Turning up for games
We keep an internal record of how often players turn up and how late they cancel. We use it when we put groups together and, after repeated no-shows, to pause new games for a player for a period. You'll see a message if this happens, and you can ask a person to look at it again by emailing info@lumavex.io.
Game chats
The messages you send in game chats. They're visible to the other players in that game.
Safety
Reports you make (the reason, what you write and a copy of the reported message), players you block, and the decisions we take on reports and accounts.
Invites and terms
If you share an invite link, who joined through it. Which version of our terms you accepted, and when.
Technical data
Your app version, device type and operating system, and IP addresses in our server logs. Your language choice is saved on your device. The padiq.app website doesn't use cookies for tracking or advertising.
4. What you need to give us
To have an account, you need to give us your email address, first name and a password. To find you games, we need your onboarding answers, the times you can play and your area. Answers you write in your own words and the Advanced Profile are optional. Without the required information we can't find you games.
5. Our legal reasons
We use your data:
- to provide PadiQ to you under our terms of use (your account, profile, availability, games and chats);
- because it's in our legitimate interests, and yours, to keep PadiQ safe and fair and to improve how we match players (attendance record, reports, blocks, moderation, technical data);
- to meet our legal obligations.
6. How we find you games
PadiQ's matching is automatic. It uses your profile, the times you can play and your area to predict which groups of four will have an even, enjoyable game. It decides which games we suggest to you, not whether you can use PadiQ.
The pause after repeated no-shows is also automatic. It happens after repeated no-shows in the last 30 days and means you can't ask for new games until the date shown in the app. You can always ask a person to look at it again by emailing info@lumavex.io.
7. What other players see
Players in the same game see your first name, your level, your status in the game (for example "Confirmed") and the messages you send in the game chat. They never see your email address, your exact map point, your answers or your attendance record. If you report someone, they're never told.
8. Who we share data with
We use these service providers to run PadiQ. They only use your data to provide their service to us, and they must protect it at least as well as we do.
- Supabase — login and database. Your data is stored in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Railway — runs our server, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
- Anthropic — if you write answers in your own words during onboarding, the text is sent to Anthropic, whose AI model helps us interpret it. Anthropic is based in the United States.
- Expo — delivers app updates and, when notifications are available, sends them through Apple and Google. Expo is based in the United States.
- Resend — sends our service emails, such as the alert our team gets when a report comes in. Resend stores data in the United States.
- Cloudflare — runs the padiq.app website and its domain.
When you download PadiQ, or a test version through TestFlight, Apple or Google handle your data under their own privacy policies.
We don't sell your data and we don't show ads. We may share data if the law requires it, for example with the police.
9. Data outside the UK and the EU
Some of our providers process data in the United States. When your data leaves the UK or the EU, we make sure it's protected by the safeguards the law requires, such as standard data protection contracts, or a decision by the UK or the EU that the recipient protects data adequately. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards at info@lumavex.io.
10. How we protect your data
Data between the app and our servers is sent over encrypted connections. We keep it with the providers listed above, and only the people who run PadiQ can access it, when they need to.
11. How long we keep your data
- Your account, profile, answers, availability and attendance record: for as long as you have an account.
- Game chats: deleted 12 months after the game.
- Games, feedback and usage events: 24 months.
- Waiting lists: 12 months. Game suggestions: 6 months.
- Reports and our decisions on them: 24 months after the case is closed.
- Technical logs: for a limited period set by our providers.
12. When you delete your account
Your account and your data are deleted straight away, with these exceptions:
- Messages you've sent in game chats stay visible to the other players in that game, without your name, until the chat is deleted 12 months after the game. If you want them deleted sooner, email info@lumavex.io.
- Reports you've made, or that are about you, including a copy of a reported message, are kept for 24 months after the case is closed, for safety reasons and to handle appeals.
- Records of past games and usage events stay in our systems without being linked to you.
You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or by emailing info@lumavex.io from the email address you use for PadiQ. More at padiq.app/delete-account.
13. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, to object to how we use it, or to receive it in a format you can take elsewhere. Email info@lumavex.io. We reply within one month.
We don't rely on your consent for the data described in this policy. If we ask for your consent in the future, for example to send you notifications, you can withdraw it at any time in your phone's settings or by emailing us.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first at info@lumavex.io. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, the authority where you live (in Sweden, IMY, imy.se).
14. Age
PadiQ is currently for players aged 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
15. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we'll tell you in the app.
